Inspector Martin Beck, 4

September 6, 2011

The Laughing Policeman gives a new twist to the Martin Beck series. The book opens with an antiwar demonstration and a mass murder aboard a double-decker bus. Of course, it’s time to call in Inspector Martin Beck, but, unlike the previous books in this series, this story follows several members of a group of policemen at work. Each member of the team contributes something vital to the solution of this mystery, but despite their concerted efforts, the team discovers that their fallen comrade has already solved the crime. “What was Stenström doing on that bus?”
